Dawsons Professional Department is one of the most active in Swansea, providing commercial and residential valuations, rent reviews, lease renewals, rating appeals and leasehold enfranchisement advice.
The client base is varied from National Banks and Pension Funds to the “man on the street”.
We are able to value commercial and residential properties throughout South Wales as well as providing lease renewal and rent review advice over the same patch. We are able to provide advice on investment purchases or sales and actively purchase property for clients through a number of sources throughout the UK. We also undertake Expert Witness work on residential and commercial properties for Court Purposes.

James M Dawson BSc (Hons) MRICS
Partner
James joined the company in January 2005 after gaining experience for 3 years in Donaldsons in London and then a further 3 years at DTZ in Cardiff. James qualified as a Chartered Surveyor in 2002.
His main role incorporates the management of the commercial clients, undertaking rent reviews and lease renewals (for both landlords and tenants), advising clients on investment purchases, commercial valuation (for Banks, Pension Funds and private clients) and Expert Witness work for Court purposes. James is also the firm’s Auctioneer.
Matthew B Mason BSc (Hons) MRICS
Surveyor
Matthew joined Dawsons as a graduate surveyor straight from Swansea University in 2006 and became a member of the RICS in 2010. Matthew currently heads up the valuation and commercial agency department. Matthew undertakes professional valuations for both residential and commercial properties throughout South Wales. Matthew’s clients include National Banks, Pension Funds, Solicitors (for probate and matrimonial purposes) and for individuals who require general advice.
Joe Demarco
Graduate Surveyor
Joe joined Dawsons in September 2020 and is currently working as a graduate surveyor within the Commercial department. He is dealing with the commercial portfolio of properties and assisting Matthew and James, with the aim to be helping more with residential valuations in the future.
Joe used to work within a social research company before deciding to switch career paths and begin training to be a chartered surveyor. He is training towards a Diploma in Residential Surveying and Valuation which provides direct entry into RICS as an associate member.
